Like all things Porsche, the Boxster is beautiful. I remember a friend saying a Porsche was just a crushed VW with a different badge: they still haven't found his body. The Boxster maintains a tradition of excellence, and although this 2.5 litre version received some criticism for being under-powered, the impending arrival of a three-litre variant should quiet the critics.
Slightly more expensive than its two rivals (BMW Z3 ROADSTER and MERCEDES-BENZ SLK 230), it still represents the cheapest way of driving a current model Porsche, but the lower price tag is by no means a reflection of performance. Like the other two, the Boxster is a car for someone who is still wild at heart.
Although every bit a thoroughbred sports car, the Boxster is as tractable around town as any run-of-the-mill runabout, but get it onto a secluded safe stretch of road and you will long for the days before speed cameras and demerit points.
